EXCESSIVE CREDIT CARD FEES

In 2006, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) ruled penalty fees of up to £39 were unfair.

Consumer law clearly states that any charges credit card providers levy on their customers must be proportional to the actual costs they incur. Quite simply, if you go over your credit card limit by 1p does it really cost your card company £39 to send you out a warning letter?

The short answer is no, and this is blatant profiteering !

You can now claim back up to 6 years penalty fees and fines which could add up to a pretty penny.

If you are in any doubt, call us today for FREE advice.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE A CLAIM?

Check your statements and see if you have any charges or fees at all.  You can go back up to 6 years. If you do not have your statements back that far ask your lender for copies. There may be a small fee but it could be worth it. Charges of up to £39 are unfair but the OFT has agreed charges around £12 - £15 can be levied. In many cases the difference can be claimed, in some cases the whole amount has been returned.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?
