In 2006, the Office of Fair
Trading (OFT) ruled penalty fees of up to £39 were unfair.
Consumer law clearly
states that any charges credit card providers levy on their customers
must be proportional to the actual costs they incur. Quite simply, if
you go over your credit card limit by 1p does it really cost your card
company £39 to send you out a warning letter?
The short answer is no,
and this is blatant profiteering !
You can now claim back up
to 6 years penalty fees and fines which could add up to a pretty penny.
